A recent study found that 43% of individuals executed between 2000 and 2015 had been Ballroom West diagnosed with a mental illness at some point in their lives. The American Bar Association has long been concerned with this issue and has started a project to advocate for state legislation t o eliminate the death penalty for people with mental illness. This special meeting will feature short presentations by the coordinator of this important project and three NAMI state leaders. The meeting will conclude with a discussion of how advocates can get involved in their states.
