Rick Baca

Rick Baca is a high tech crimes detective and a computer forensic Examiner for the Walnut Creek Police Department. He is certified as a computer forensic and has been qualified as a expert in computer forensics and credit card encoding/ fraud. He has provided technical assistance in presentations to numerous police departments, sheriff divisions and highway patrol departments as well as forensic examiners and probation and parole divisions. He is a member of the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children group and the Contra Costa County Sexual Predator Apprehension and Compliance Team.

Commissioner Mary Ann Grilli

Superior Court Judge, County of Santa Clara. Currently assigned to the Family Court, hearing all aspects of Family Law, including dissolutions, legal separations, parentage, nullities, and domestic violence matters in conjunction with dissolutions or parentage matters. Previously assigned to the Probate calendar, criminal domestic violence calendars, and civil domestic violence calendars. Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Criminology and has a law degree from Santa Clara University. Practiced Family Law for 19 years prior to appointment to the bench as Family Court Commissioner in 1993. Elected to the Superior Court and took office in January, 1997. She is a Certified Family Law Specialist. Served as President of the Palo Alto Area Bar Association while in practice. Currently is immediate past chair and an advisory member of the Judicial Council Family and Juvenile Advisory Committee, Chair, Domestic Violence Education Project Committee, member, California Domestic Violence Taskforce, and is past chair of the Santa Clara County Domestic Violence Council. Currently serving as a board member for AFCC in California. Voted Outstanding Family Law Judicial Officer by the State Bar Family Law Section, 1998. Awarded Donald King Award as Outstanding Family Court Judge, March, 2006, and DVLSR Vision Award for 2007.

Julie Saffren, JD

Julie Saffren, JD is a solo practitioner in Family Law with a focus on domestic violence and custody issues. She was formerly staff attorney at Support Network for Battered Women in Mountain View, CA. She is one of the co-creators of DVLSR (Domestic Violence Limited Scope Representation), a grant- funded collaborative with the Pro Bono Project of Silicon Valley. She is a lecturer at Santa Clara University School of Law. She is a member and former chair of the San Jose Regional Standing Subcommittee for the Family Law Executive Committee of the State Bar, reviewing legislation for its impact on victims, families and pro pers. In May 2007, she was appointed to Santa Clara Countys Domestic Violence Council. In June 2007, she was awarded Barrister of the Year by the Santa Clara County Bar Association.
