Individuals and family members who struggle with mental illness often experience feelings of isolation and stigma. For many, faith communities can be extremely important in the recovery process-but they can also disrupt the process. This workshop will focus on ways that faith communities either assist or hinder recovery. A welcoming community, rituals, spiritual practices and sermons generally help foster recovery, but when they are misused, they can negatively affect recovery. - Nancy Kehoe, Ph.D., instructor in psychology, Harvard Medical School, Belmont, Mass. -
