Addressing Barriers To Recovery For Ethnic Minorities Ethnic minorities receive disparities in care that lead to poorer outcomes in their mental and physical health. A program based on creating communities around a provider site and through a summer school created a dialogue among those living with mental illness, service providers and policymakers. By addressing the cultural issues that arose within these dialogues, the outcome has been an improved willingness to participate in and have access to new treatment interventions that may also contribute to better physical health for ethnic minorities. - Mimi Martinez McKay, M.A., M.L.I.S., Chief of Staff/Information Services Director, Texas Department of State Health Services, Austin, Texas. - Marie Hipolito, M.D., project manager, Howard University, Washington, D.C. - Shannon Gopaul, B.S., project manager, Howard University, Washington, D.C. - Moderator: Mimi Martinez McKay, M.A., M.L.I.S., Chief of Staff/Information Services Director, Texas Department of State Health Services, Austin, Texas
